Structures feature the history of a country. The sanctuary of the “Bai Dinh Pagoda,” a famous Vietnamese structure, was built in accordance with Vietnam’s traditional style of architecture in 1136. The sharply rising tip of its eaves is characteristic. On the other hand, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Building, which was built in the French style in 1908, was used as Saigon City Hall during France’s colonial period; at present, however, it is an attraction symbolizing Vietnam’s southern city of Ho Chi Minh. One can figure out Vietnam’s rocky history and strong and tolerant national spirit through Vietnam’s buildings mixing Oriental and Occidental elements.
