The Foundation hosted the 2020 on-the-job training for teachers of East Asian history in Taiwan for four days from December 11 to 14. The training program had a schedule to tour Taipei, Taichung, and Keelung in Taiwan, during which 16 teachers who had completed the Foundation’s intensive training program for East Asian history visited historic sites and took time for learning. Their itinerary included visiting Taiwan’s historic sites related to modern and contemporary history, including the 228 Peace Park, National Taiwan Museum, and Sun Yat Sen Memorial House.
They also visited the AMA Museum, Taiwan’s memorial hall for comfort women, to learn about the comfort women of the Japanese military in Taiwan, and made a field investigation of historic sites related to independence activist Cho Myung-ha. Professor Kim Sang-ho of Hsiuping University of Science and Technology was invited to speak on the independence movement of patriot Cho Myung-ha. This session of on-the-job training included lively education programs. The Foundation will continue to make persistent efforts to activate education on East Asian history.
