NAHF published the book 『Gojoseon meets Goguryeo』 to reveal the relationship between Gojoseon and Goguryeo and the origin of Goguryeo culture. China Wanfabozi Relic in Tonghua is a large relic first discovered with Gojoseon culture on the top and Goguryeo culture deposited on the bottom. The Korean academic community saw it as the key to estimating the origin of the Goguryeo Jeokseok tomb, the direction of the residents after the destruction of Gojoseon. It was seen as a relic showing that Goguryeo succeeded Gojoseon.
Research fellow Park Seon-mi said: “There is no documentation that says that Goguryeo succeeded Gojoseon. However, we can reveal the relationship between the two through various archaeological resources. We can find the contents of the succession between the two countries in various documentations, even if it is fragmentary.” Park said that the network centered on Gojoseon will be reorganized around Goguryeo starting from the destruction of Gojoseon. It is necessary to review more archaeological resources at the same time as China Wanfabozi Relic in Tonghua from the perspective of Korean academia.
