The Northeast Asian History Foundation (Chairperson Park Ji-hang) held a Korea–China textbook authors’ meeting on Friday, November 28 in the foundation’s 11th-floor main conference hall under the theme “Narratives of Modern and Contemporary History and Historical Perceptions in Korean and Chinese Textbooks.”

The meeting consisted of three sessions.
In Session 1, Professors Seo Young-hee (Korea Polytechnic University) and Li Fan (Beijing Normal University) analyzed changes in the descriptions of Japanese imperial aggression in Korean and Chinese history textbooks before and after their revisions.
In Session 2, Professors Kim Tae-woong (Seoul National University) and Zhou Donghua (Hangzhou Normal University) compared the ways in which anti-Japanese resistance movements and war history are remembered in history textbooks and in history education.
In Session 3, Professors Jeong Dong-yeon (Cheongju National University of Education) and Liu Bo (Nanjing Normal University) compared descriptions of Korea–China relations after liberation.

Chairperson Park Ji-hang stated, “I hope that this meeting will provide an opportunity to objectively reflect on the history education of both countries, broaden the foundations for mutual understanding and cooperation, and lead to efforts to build a reflective and well-balanced view of history that can be shared by future generations.”
