The Northeast Asian History Foundation hosted a special lecture by Christopher P. Atwood, a world-renowned scholar in Mongolian and Central Eurasian history from the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Pennsylvania, on Monday, June 24.

The lecture, titled “The Rise and Fall of Inner Mongolian Autonomy, 1931 to 2024,” provided an overview of the modern and contemporary history of the Inner Mongolia region from the Manchukuo period to the present day. Professor Atwood traced the development and changes in the People's Republic of China's policies toward ethnic minorities. This lecture offered significant insights not only into the modern and contemporary history of Inner Mongolia but also into the overall ethnic policies of the People's Republic of China.
