The inauguration ceremony for the 7th President of the Northeast Asian History Foundation was held on Wednesday, January 3rd, at 10 a.m. in the Foundation's main conference room.

 

In her inaugural address, the newly appointed 7th Chairman, Park Jihang, expressed her gratitude to the former chairmen and staff who have supported the Foundation thus far. She emphasized that the Foundation must assess whether it has fulfilled its vision and adapt proactively to the rapidly changing world. Park stated that the Foundation will focus on establishing and promoting its identity to raise public awareness. She also highlighted the importance of the Foundation playing a central role as a think tank in developing national policies that offer a better future for the next generation. Park urged efforts to resolve conflicts with an attitude of empathy and to prioritize public interest over personal gain in overcoming challenges.


Park Jihang graduated from the Department of Western History at Seoul National University and earned her Ph.D. from the State University of New York. She has been a professor in the Department of Western History at Seoul National University since 1992, retiring in 2018 and now serving as an emeritus professor. Park has also been a visiting researcher at institutions such as the Institute of Social Science at the University of Tokyo and the University of Cambridge. She has served as a member of the National Institute of Korean History (2003-2006), Director of the Seoul National University Central Library (2011-2015), and a member of the Presidential Committee on Humanities and Spiritual Culture (2013-2014).
