Book Introduction

International Legal Review of Korea’s Sovereignty over Dokdo and Japanese Colonialist Invasion

Dokdo is a symbol of Korean territorial sovereignty. However, Japan’s illegal invasion on Korea’s sovereignty over Dokdo is still ongoing even in 2025, the 120th anniversary of Japan’s invasion of Dokdo in 1905. Moreover, the seriousness of the problem exists in that the Japan’s claim to Dokdo, is consistent with Japanese colonialism as the essential substance of violence and greed stated in the Cairo Declaration. This book identifies the inherent problems of Japanese colonialism and the distortion of international legal principles derived from it in the study of the title by the Japanese Society of International Law, which has established the policy foundation for Japan’s illegal claim on Korea’s sovereignty over Dokdo.
