Five books on the history of Goguryeo have been published as part of China's Northeast Project. These books strongly reflects China's perception of Goguryeo history from the perspective of Northeast Project. With analysis and critical research, the title aims to overcome Chinese scholars' arbitrary interpretation of Goguryeo history. Although China's Northeast Project finished in 2007 after five years, China's research on ancient history continues to focus on the three Northeast provinces. , a journal published by Jilin province in China, states that research on Goguryeo history is the most important task, and as many 106 out of the 301 papers published in the journal (2004~2006) deal with the history of Goguryeo. With this title, readers will be able to develop a clear understanding of China's claims on Goguryeo history in Northeast Project, and identify the problems of nationalistic descriptions of history in Chinese academia.
