The title examines Upper Xiajiadian culture (夏家店上層文化) around B.C. 1000 (in Bronze Age), which represents "Guguo (古國, archaic state)" stage after the Hongshan culture. Korean archeological circle pay a special attention to the remains, for Bipa-shapred bronze daggers (also known as Liaoning bronze daggers) have been excavated in this area. The title aims to discover the changes from Bronze Age to Upper Xiajiadian culture near the upper stream of Liao River and the Great Ling River region, and the relations with neighboring cultures. In particular, the authors focused on the remains near the Great Ling River, which were indirectly or directly related to Gojoseon and Buyeo, including Shi'ertaiyingzi (十二台營子), Weiyingzi (魏營子), Baijinbao (白金寶) in the Songnen plain. They analyzed the cultural aspects of Northeast Asia in Bronze Age, when Liao River Civilization was spreading across the region, including characteristics of Bronze Age culture in this area and exchanges with neighboring regions. In addition, the book helps readers deepen their understanding of how Liao River Civilization was formed and the relations with neighboring areas.
